Our Value

We have recently begun planning for our next trip to the UK and I can’t say the financial side excites us as much as the ‘Where will we go?and ‘What shall we do?’
It seems amazing doesn’t it, that here we are, a tiny little country at the bottom of the world. Just ticking over, minding our own business and yet events on the other side of the world, which we are not necessarily involved in, affect the value of the New Zealand dollar constantly.
How about us as people?
Do the events of the world affect our value?
How about the careers we have?
The amount of money in our bank account?
The size of the house we live in?
How other people see us and How we see ourselves?
For me, the answer is a clear NO! Our worth remains the same at all times. Unlike the value of our dollar, it doesn’t fluctuate according to what is happening in the world.
I have three reasons for saying this:
‘For we are God’s masterpiece, crafted with intention and purpose’. (Ephesians 2:10). Our life has value because the Creator of the universe shaped us. ‘Then God looked over all he had made and he saw that it was very good’. (Genesis 1:31).
Jesus showed us our true worth when he was willing to die on a cross and rise again on the third day. ‘For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life’. (John 3:16).
God knows and cares about every little detail of our life because He loves us with an unfailing and everlasting love. ‘Long ago, the Lord said to Israel: ‘I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself’. (Jeremiah 31:3).
